As a designer and gemologist, Laurence Marie works closely with you to create a one-of-a-kind piece, from selecting the stone and creating the initial sketches while accompanying the crafting in our workshops in Belgium.

Custom jewelry isn't just about choosing a stone and a setting.
It means to imagine a piece of jewelry suited to the person who will wear it, their tastes, their story, and what they wish to celebrate.
You may come in with a very specific idea, an image, a color you like, or simply the desire to create something unique. Our role is to listen to you, guide you, and translate those desires into a piece of jewelry that is harmonious, elegant, and personal.
Each piece is designed for you and centered around the stone that will become its heart.

We will assist you in choosing a stone and design a ring to enhance it while celebrating your commitment.
Custom Ring
Sapphire, diamond, ruby, emerald, tourmaline… To commemorate a special occasion in your life, we design a ring centered around a stone chosen for its color, shape, and character.
Custom-Made Alliance
A wedding band designed to be worn on its own or crafted to pair perfectly with an existing engagement ring.
Custom Necklace or Pendant
A special stone, a symbol, or a story can serve as the inspiration for a one-of-a-kind pendant or necklace.
Custom Earrings and Bracelets
We also create custom earrings and bracelets, either as one-of-a-kind pieces or to complement a piece of jewelry you already own.

How is a custom piece of jewelry created?
01 — The initial Meeting
It all starts with a conversation.
During your first appointment at our showroom on the outskirts of Brussels, we take the time to understand your preferences, your style, the occasion you wish to celebrate, and the budget you’d like to allocate to your piece of jewelry.
You don't need to come in with a specific idea. We're here to guide you.
02 — The Search for the Stone
Sapphire, diamond, ruby, emerald, or a more unique gemstone: as gemologists, we seek out and select the stones that are right for your project.
Thanks to our network of gemstone dealers and diamond merchants in Antwerp, we can present you with a selection of stones chosen for their beauty, color, proportions, and character.
Because two stones of the same type and weight never tell exactly the same story.
03 — The Drawing
Once the stone has been selected, Laurence Marie sketches your piece of jewelry by hand and to scale.
The proportions, profile, and height of the stone, as well as the setting and every detail, are carefully considered so that you can visualize your future creation before it is crafted.
A drawing also allows us to discuss, refine, and adjust the project until we find the right balance together.
04 — Production
Once the design and quote have been approved, your piece of jewelry is brought to life in our workshops in Belgium.
Goldsmiths, gem setters, and polishers put their expertise to work in the creative process before the piece is delivered, a few weeks later, to the person for whom it was designed.
Design a Custom Engagement Ring
An engagement ring is probably one of the most personal pieces of jewelry you can choose.
As women, mothers, and working women, we understand that the desires of today’s young women are not necessarily the same as those of their mothers or grandmothers. We tailor each design to the lifestyle of the woman who will wear it and respect her desire for discretion—or, conversely, for glamour. Each ring must reflect the character, tastes, and life of the woman for whom it is intended.
Rather than starting with an existing design, a custom-made ring allows us to work together to choose the stone that speaks to you and then design a one-of-a-kind ring around it.
Whether it’s a classic diamond or one with a unique cut, a blue, green, or pink sapphire—or even one in a more unexpected shade—we’ll search for several stones in Antwerp that match your preferences and budget so you can explore and compare them.
The ring is then designed around the chosen stone, taking into account not only the personality of the person who will wear it but also their comfort in everyday life.

Please bring it with you to your appointment. After examining it, we can design a completely custom piece based on its features and proportions.

How much does a custom piece of jewelry cost?
The price of a custom piece of jewelry depends on the stone you choose, the amount of precious metal used, the complexity of the design, and the amount of craftsmanship required. We work with you to define your project, taking into account your budget, and provide a quote before the start of any work.
How long does it take to make a custom piece of jewelry?
Production generally takes about four weeks after final approval of the design and quote. This timeframe may vary depending on the complexity of the piece and the availability of the stones.
Is it possible to have custom jewelry made within a specific budget?
Yes. Knowing your budget allows us to focus our search for stones and our design efforts on the most suitable solutions from the very beginning.
Do I need to know exactly what piece of jewelry I want?
No. A color, a gemstone you like, a few images, or simply the story you want to tell—that’s all it takes to get started. Our role is precisely to turn those initial ideas into a cohesive project.
Where is " Mère & Fille " jewelry made?
Mère & Fille 's designs are crafted in Belgium by our jewelry workshops.
Can I choose my own stone?
Yes. Depending on the project, several stones may be selected and presented so that you can examine and compare them before making your choice.
Can I use the stones from an old piece of jewelry?
Yes, provided their condition allows it. In that case, we invite you to explore our vintage jewelry redesign service, which is specifically dedicated to creating new pieces using jewelry and gemstones you already own.
A designer and gemologist by your side
Trained in jewelry design and gemology at the Gemmological Institute of America (GIA), Laurence Marie designs the custom pieces featured on Mère & Fille.
From selecting the gemstones to designing the jewelry, she personally oversees every project and serves as the driving force behind it until its completion.
This dual perspective as both a designer and a gemologist allows her to consider both the design and the stone at the same time: its color, its proportions, its character, and the way it will be incorporated into the piece of jewelry.
Creating custom pieces means finding the balance between a person, a stone, and a design.
