A new life, without erasing one's history

An antique piece of jewelry isn't always something you want to wear. Still, we hesitate to part with it because it belonged to a mother or grandmother, or because it marks an important moment in our lives.

Transforming a piece of jewelry allows you to preserve its history while creating a piece that reflects who you are today.

A ring can be turned into a pendant. The diamonds from a brooch can be set into a new ring. Several pieces of heirloom jewelry can be combined into a single piece.

We don't necessarily aim to preserve the original shape of the piece of jewelry. We aim to understand what , in your view, should be preserved.

WHAT CAN BE TRANSFORMED?

Vintage Ring: Set a diamond or gemstone into a more contemporary design.

Family Brooch: Recycle your diamonds and gemstones to create a ring, bracelet, or pendant.

Former solitaire: Keep the diamond and design a new setting.

Pendant or Necklace: Reuse a center stone or multiple stones in a new piece of jewelry.

HOW DOES IT WORK? 

01 — The Consultation
You bring us the jewelry you’d like to transform. Together, we examine the stones, their condition, and the possibilities they offer.

02 — The Design
Laurence Marie creates your new piece based on your gemstones, your style, and the story you wish to preserve.

03 — Complementary Gemstones
If the project calls for it, we’ll work with our suppliers to find additional diamonds, sapphires, or other gemstones that will complement yours.

04 — Crafting
Once the design and quote have been approved, your piece of jewelry is crafted in Belgium by our master jewelers.

SOME EXAMPLES OF OUR WORK

The ruby in this antique ring has been redesigned in an Art Deco-style setting.

The diamonds from this brooch have been set into a flexible and elegant bracelet.

We reused the remaining beads from this necklace to incorporate them into a pair of modern, haute couture earrings.

The stunning marquise-cut diamond in the solitaire ring has been set in a floral setting that enhances its character.

WHO IS BEHIND THE PROJECT?

Trained in jewelry design and gemology at the Gemmological Institute of America (GIA), Laurence Marie has been designing and transforming pieces for Mère & Fille for over ten years.

Every project begins with a close examination of the stones entrusted to me. The design comes next: it must highlight their character, work within their limitations, and result in a piece of jewelry that its owner will truly want to wear.
